  6. Focus management on critical path tasks: because delays here delay the entire project.


Rough Estimation, Smart Refinement

One of CPM’s smartest features is how it deals with uncertainty.

You don't need perfect time estimates for every task upfront.

  • Start with rough estimates.

  • Build the initial critical path.

  • Re-estimate the activities on the critical path (and near it) with more precision.

  • Rebuild the network graph.

  • If the critical path shifts, re-focus precision there.

  • Repeat until the network is stabilized and accurate.


This focused refinement saves massive effort compared to trying to estimate everything perfectly from the start.
